Cadet Programs Professional Development

The goal of Cadet Programs Professional Development is to provide senior members with the tools and resources necessary to run a successful cadet program. This education is critical to our success and has a direct impact on retention and progression of our cadets.

Virtual Cadet Programs Technician Rating Workshop

Scheduled for 7 Nov 2026. 

Target Audience:  

• Senior Members enrolled in the Cadet Programs Specialty Track who have not earned their Technician rating
• Priority slotting: Deputy Commanders for Cadets and Assistants, Leadership Officers, Commanders, and anyone assigned to a cadet programs position.

Details:

• This workshop will cover the 45 Knowledge requirements in a small group setting.
• Participants will need to accomplish the Performance and Service requirements separately (e.g. duty position, interview, administer drill test, TLC-Basic, technician test).
• Ongoing mentoring will be available to those who don't have a mentor available.
• To register, you must be enrolled in the Cadet Programs Specialty Track
• Register in Registration Zone (link will be posted when available)

Virtual TLC-Intermediate Course, Saturday, 8 Aug 2026, from 0800 to 1630 Eastern. A second offering will be on 30 Jan 2027, from 0800 to 1630 Eastern.

Target Audience:  

• Graduates of the TLC Basic Course (not a required prerequisite)
• Adult volunteers preparing themselves for service as a squadron commander or deputy commander for cadets
• Veteran CP officers seeking refresher training

Details:

• To receive credit for the course, you must complete a web-based module in eServices Learning Management System (LMS) called Tour of Cadet Curriculum.
• Information about the TLC-Intermediate course can be found at this link.
• Registration: Through Registration Zone (search for TLC-I)
• Members must be a senior member and current in Cadet Protection Training. TLC-Basic is highly recommended but not required. 
• TLC-I counts towards compliance requirements, QCUA, and when specifically listed by name in a specialty track (e.g. CP senior rating).
• Any eligible senior member may register; however, priority slotting will be given to members of the Mid-Atlantic Region. All others will be slotted a few weeks prior, based on open slots. Details will be in Registration Zone. We expect a high demand, so register early!

TLC On Demand

A fully online, self-paced pathway to TLC credit. Participants complete 10 online modules and receive TLC credit. Course is located in Absorb.

• Participants complete 4 modules in Youth Development Fundamentals and 6 modules in Cadet Programs Essentials.
• Participants have a choice in what modules they choose in each section
• Participants may receive credit for other Cadet Programs training they complete (restrictions apply), including the Youth Development Conference, Required Staff Training (RST), etc.
• Participants must complete 10 modules within 36 months of the first module
• TLC On Demand credit will count just the same as other TLC courses for TLC compliance, SUI, and QCUA. 
• If you are enrolled in the CP specialty track, at this time TLC-OD will not count towards that. You will need to complete the course that is listed in the checklist in the CAPP 60-11. Example: If you are working towards your Tech in CP, you will still need to complete TLC Basic.
