Region Cadet Leadership School - North (MARCLS-N)
REGISTRATION FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS (STUDENTS, CADRE, STAFF) IS NOW OPEN IN REGISTRATION ZONE!
Region cadet leadership school (RCLS) is a course in officership, indirect leadership, and other themes consistent with CAP’s leadership expectations for Phase III cadets. These academies make use of local resources to broaden leadership skills in cadet officers and NCOs.
Location: Camp Fretterd Military Reservation in Reisterstown, Maryland, and Virtual
Eligibility: All cadets in grades C/MSgt - C/Maj who have not previously completed an RCLS. Cadets who have completed an RCLS and senior members are encouraged to apply for cadre/staff. This course is open to members from any region/national staff.

Some of the dates are listed as optional or structured as make-up dates. If these dates do not work for you, there will be an official excusal memorandum and methods of making up coursework. If you work with us, we will work with you!

All scheduled sessions (in-person and virtual) are required for school credit. Note that some of the above virtual time periods include makeup sessions. Seminar group time will depend on the needs of the seminar group (estimated max time is shown). For the in-person weekends, Friday night arrival is required, unless excused by the Activity Director or designee.
Students
Student applications for MARCLS-N are now open - through eServices Registration Zone - from now until January 19th, 2025. Payment is due on this date, with a student cost of $175. Student applications are open to all CAP cadets in the grades of C/MSgt through C/Maj.
Since the Ira C. Eaker Award requires either RCLS or Cadet Officer School (COS), priority will be given to Phase IV cadets, followed by Phase III cadets then C/MSgt - C/CMSgt. Slotting for registered students in Phase IV will begin 3 Jan 2025 and continue as applications come in. Slotting for Phase III and Phase II cadets (C/MSgt-C/CMSgt) will begin NLT 10 Jan 2025 (earlier, if sufficient slots are available). Register by 2 Jan 2025 for the best opportunity for slotting.
Students are required to participate fully in all in-person and online classes and activities. For the in-person weekends, Friday night arrival is required, unless excused by the Activity Director or his designee.
Staff and Cadre
Staff and Cadre applications are open! Cadre and Staff will be expected to train, develop, and mentor students through the RCLS process with the objective of creating tangibly improved cadet leaders utilizing their own learned experiences in life or as a Cadet. Cadre will be teaching leadership philosophy via both discussion and a wide range of practical opportunities meant to expand the view and capability of the next generation of cadet leaders.

Due to the travel involved, SOME virtual-only positions will be considered depending on the final applications and needs.

Command Cadre: Cadet Commander, Executive Officer, and Chief of Staff positions are filled.

All staff and cadre who previously filled out the interest form need to register in Registration Zone.

All unfilled positions remain open until filled. Apply through Registration Zone.
Senior Staff:

Valid CPPT standing through 30 March 2025

Valid CAP Driver’s Permissions on 101 Card through 30 March 2025 (waiverable)
Requirements for Cadet Cadre:

Graduate of RCLS, COS, or an approved equivalent

Possible virtual-only allowance for Stan/Eval, Admin, and Seminar leads. Send questions regarding other time commitments

Resume, 2 pages max

Consistent availability from November to the end of March (lower ops tempo around the holidays)

Note that the requirement for a Letter of Intent and Resume for all Seminar Leads has been removed, but is still encouraged
Preferred Accomplishments for Applicants:

C/2d Lt or Higher

Availability in Person and Virtual for all sessions

Knowledge of CAPR 39-1, CAPR 60-1, and 60-2

Active Participant in Wing through National activities.

High PT Performance (Excluding Waivers which are to be treated equally)

Commitment to developing and serving the Student Corps.
