Vice Commander - South

                             

 COLONEL, EDWARD P. ANGELOVICH   

Colonel Edward P. Angelovich, is the Vice Commander – South of Civil Air Patrol’s Mid-Atlantic Region, serving in this role since October 2022. He recently served as the Wing Commander of the North Carolina Wing, Civil Air Patrol. Colonel Angelovich was responsible to the Civil Air Patrol Corporation and to the Region Commander for ensuring that the Corporation’s objectives, policies, and operational directives were effectively executed within the wing.  Angelovich commanded the Wing's 6 Groups, a total of 32 Squadrons with over 2,200 members and provided stewardship of 17 Civil Air Patrol aircraft and 26 Civil Air Patrol vehicles.

Taking command of the Wing in February 2020, Angelovich safely guided the Wing during the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic which began just one month after the change of command. Under his leadership, the Wing successfully fulfilled the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary's Congressionally Chartered missions of Emergency Services, Cadet Programs and Aerospace Education, included eight credited Missing Person FINDs and SAVEs during the very unprecedented restrictive pandemic timeframe. Special recognition of the Wing’s success was also noted during the 2022 CAP National Conference where the members of the Wing were recognized with the Health Services Officer of the Year, Ground Team of the Year and Property Manager of the Year Awards. Under Angelovich's leadership, the Wing’s Special Missions organization also supported America's Homeland Security missions as a member of the Air Force's Total Force. The Wing by providing joint training and support with our federal and DoD partners such as the U.S. Army Air Operations Battalion, the North Carolina Air National Guard and the U.S. Air Force 4th Fighter Wing.

Angelovich joined Civil Air Patrol’s Dutchess County Composite Squadron, New York Wing in July 2007. He held various South Eastern Group staff positions including Safety Officer, Emergency Services Officer, Operations Officer and Deputy Group Commander, becoming Group Commander in 2014. After his forty-year corporate retirement from International Business Machines which covered supporting Fortune 500 customers and leading teams in engineering, consulting and services and management, Angelovich moved to North Carolina in 2013 and transferred to the Brunswick County Composite Squadron, North Carolina Wing. He assumed a number of Group staff duties and became the Group 5 Commander in 2014. He joined the North Carolina Wing Command staff in June 2016 as Vice Commander and later as Vice Commander-South and assumed Command of North Carolina Wing in February, 2020.

Col Angelovich is a CAP pilot, ground team member and incident commander. He has also instructed at CAP Region Staff Colleges and the Group Commander Course and has completed all five levels of CAP’s Education & Training program.

Colonel Angelovich holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Union College, NY and a Master of Project Management from George Washington University, Washington, DC.

A resident of Holden Beach, North Carolina, Col Angelovich is married to Barbara and has two adult married children, Edward Jr. and Jessica, and twin granddaughters, Ellie and Harper and grandson Jude.
